We came to BHS from all parts of town, from all neighborhoods, surrounding rural areas, and even Europe.  We brought with us a range of diversity and background to one school that can only occur in a small town. Most of us were born in 1951-52, the offspring of "the greatest generation". Our parents were teachers, preachers, ranchers, truck drivers, plant managers, land owners, farmers, small business owners, government employees, bankers, sales reps, shift workers, beauticians, deliverymen, store clerks, office workers, accountants, pharmacists, doctors, nurses, lawyers, and builders. Some of us were wealthy, some of us were poor, and most of us were somewhere right in the middle. Some of us came from extended families which had lived in Brownwood for generations, others were newcomers, and still others lived in single-parent homes. We wanted to be sports stars, singers, dancers, scientists, artists, authors, hairdressers, photographers, ranchers, business owners, soldiers, sailors, ministers, doctors, nurses, racers, journalists, broadcasters, builders, railroaders, teachers, astronauts, pilots, bikers, hippies, and secretaries.  Most of us expected to fall in love, get married, have a family and live "happily ever after".  We came of age in a time of great change and upheaval, yet faced the future with eagerness and anticipation.

And now, every five years we gather in Brownwood again and celebrate not just who we were, but who we ARE: Wiser, older, seasoned by life with its ups and downs, and each and every one of us grateful to be here.

As the years pass, with life having taken us frequently in directions we never expected, we are still an eclectic group. Some of us have retired, some of us find ourselves consumed with family activities, some of us are embarking on new ventures, and some of us are winding businesses down to hand to the next generation. We've had successes, failures, heartaches and triumphs. Whatever season of life we are in, we are still diverse and interesting...and most of all, we are connected by having shaped each other in ways that have lasted a lifetime, and are anchored by our shared identity as Brownwood Lions.

We have shared memories, we have shared experiences, and even now, we still share the pride of being the Class of 1970.
